George Priestley Memorial Scholarship

A $200 award for an undergraduate majoring or minoring in Political Science with a concentration on Latin America and the Caribbean. Because of Professor Priestley’s tireless and unselfish work with the Queens College community in the capacity of teacher, researcher and mentor to students, particularly Latino and Caribbean students, as well as the Latino Community for nearly 40 years it is of great importance that the awardee share similar interests. In addition to meeting the criteria set by the College and the Political Science Department, the students focus should be on areas that were important to Professor Priestley such as social justice, anti racism, Latino and Afro descendant identity and international human rights issues as these pertain to Latin America or the Caribbean both regionally or within the diasporic community.
